The Watercolors of Kim Eng Yeo is the Online portfolio and gallery of watercolor artist, Kim
Eng Yeo, who draws inspiration from Nature and seeks its essence in her paintings. The
Website is named after her July 1999 United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM)
exhibition in Singapore. It's a name that matches Kim's overall theme of gardens and
nature.
In a sense, this Website is a collaboration between two artists. Before
the design process began, much time was spent viewing and studying Kim's paintings
and compositions. Since the paintings were all of the outdoors and nature, a brown and beige
palette was chosen... earthy tones to go with flowers, forests and rivers. It's not dull
like a pure gray, but neutral enough that it won't distract viewers from the artwork
it's housing. The wooden planks and trellis pattern are typical of Kerwin's style
of taking objects associated with the subject matter of the site, pulling them apart
and rebuilding an interface from the parts. These items give the site substance and at the
same time blend in with Kim's paintings... artwork within artwork!
